The follow-up to Alexis’s brilliant animated/claymation Video Musics is coming soon:

“Video Musics II: Sun Wu-Kong” is a one hour multimedia video opera based on the 16th century Chinese novel “The Journey to the West”. The project combines line drawing and watercolor animation as well as stop motion and claymation.

It has musical contributions from Rachel Blumberg (M Ward, Arch Cape), Cory Gray (Norfolk & Western, Carcrashlander), Shelley Short (Hush) as well as visual contributions from Cynthia Star (Coraline, Moral Orel, Robot Chicken), Becca Taylor (Punk Planet, Arthur) and Ezra Claytan Daniels (Darkhorse Comics, Top Shelf Comics).

The DVD/Vinyl release is on Africantape(EU) / Slowtrain(US) scheduled for fall 2010.

The Flaming Clipse

I designed the cover for Domer’s latest work, The Flaming Clipse, a mashup album “combining the dirty south raps of Virginia natives Clipse with the epic sonic wash of indie-rock innovators The Flaming Lips.”

True to form the design itself is a mashup of the iconic album covers from Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips and Clipse’s Lord Willin’.

Domer is the man behind the production of The Bohemian Rap CD. The Flaming Clipse album is a free download on freeicecream.net.

Sun Ra – The All of Everything

One of my favorite Sun Ra tracks is the pensive “The All of Everything” off of the 1970 album “The Night of the Purple Moon.” This album is one of the few recordings of Sun Ra with a smaller ensemble than the full Arkestra. On “The All of Everything” Ra plays the Rocksichord and is joined by Stafford James on bass, the tenor saxophonist John Gilmore on percussion, and Danny Davis on flute.

Flying Lotus just posted this free thirty-nine minute mix of a decade’s worth of his tracks over at the Brainfeeder site:

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone.

As we’re approaching this new year, I felt it was time to let go of some things that have been gathering dust. Some old things, and some new things, I tried to pick out tracks that I know yall haven’t heard yet so there should be surprises around every turn.

Can’t believe I’ve been making tracks for over 10 years now.. That said, there’s so much to learn still.

I hope you all enjoy this mix. Thanks to the Gaslamp Killer for doing an incredible job on this.

Can’t wait for you all to hear my album ‘Cosmogramma’ coming out April 20th 2010 on Warp Records.
