<p>I&#8217;m going to see <a href="http://aurevoirsimone.com/" target="_blank">Au Revoir Simone</a> play the <a href="http://www.highlineballroom.com/bio.php?id=1231" target="_blank">Highline Ballroom</a> this Thursday.  </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re not familiar with this band already, you&#8217;re missing out&mdash;Au Revoir Simone is an all-keyboard trio with style for miles. They write deceptively simple, understated, and beautifully addictive songs for secret dance parties. I love the arrangement (the way the melody resolves up a half-step to the root, the drum machine beats, haunting bass line, and syncopated horns) of <i>Sad Song</i> (video above).</p>
