Designers.mx is a beautifully designed site with a simple concept: designers create covers for mixes of music that motivates them. The site is updated frequently and mixes can be streamed so it’s a great place to find new bands and listen to inspiring music while you’re working.

2. Toro Y Moi — “Still Sound”

Toro Y Moi is one of my favorite bands from 2010. The reverb-drenched vocals suit the video, which was filmed on “a super 8 camera and a box full of Kodak film.” Toro Y Moi’s new album “Underneath The Pine” will be available 2/22 on CARPARK Records. iTunes link

3. Oh Land — “Rainbow”

Oh Land is one of those artists you can tell is going to be big. I love how natural this live arrangement is with voice, snaps, and electronics.

4. Cut Copy – “Need You Now”

I resisted Cut Copy’s “In Ghost Colours” because I thought they were a bit too obvious with their influences, but it ended up being one of my favorite albums of 2008. I feel the same way about this track, but I can feel it growing on me already.

5. Bilal — “Levels”

Directed by Flying Lotus, this video picks up where “Mmmhmm” left off. Erykah Badu, Thundercat, and Shafiq Husayn (producer) also make appearances.
